a little bit of life... [Sep. 28th, 2009|10:01 pm]
i went to germany in august and i found it to be one of the best vacations of my life. i got to spend time with sina and see where she grew up. i miss living with her and spending time with her. she's a great friend and one i will have forever, it is really a shame that we live so far apart.

after germany i began life in the fast lane, working, going to school and spending time with friends and family and i feel like i have not stopped since.

school sucks, it especially sucks b/c i have to drive to tuscaloosa every wednesday and every other monday...the only good thing is that i found a new love for driving and jamming out to music...seriously, driving back tonight, i felt happy...really giddy, little kid, happy. it was delightful.

and then i got home and remembered i had to type my paper into livetext and my hatred of all things school was renewed. oy.

well, i spose that's it...just thought i'd send a little update...keyword = little.

toodles!

i went to mexico. one of the best trips of my life. [Jul. 16th, 2009|09:27 pm]
[my musics... |sytycd]

i went to playa del secreto. i met rhonda and chuck, the best people ever! and i am now in love with that place. it is going to become one of my regular destinations b/c the place is beautiful and rhonda and chuck are amazing people!

so, i wrote email recaps to my family soooooooooo if you'd like to read, here they are...it was an amazing trip, so enjoy my friends!

DAY 1: A Mexican Adventure

whew, the adventure begins...did you know that 430am is sooooooo early especially when you then have to drive 2 hours!?!? Yea, it is...

Everything with meeting and driving to atlanta went well, we parked at fastpark and hopped directly on the shuttle which took us to the airport...once at the airport check in and everything went smoothly until we boarded the plane and found out that the guy who fueled the plane couldn't fuel international flights so we got a later start, but made up time in the air...landing about the time we were originally scheduled to arrive. Even tho the descent was crazy choppy and kasey (jessy's sister) was feeling pukey, we still made it!

After waiting for everyone to get off the plane, bc we were in the last row, we went to get our bags and go through customs, everything was grand until we found out we only had 1 of thr 2 required forms so we had to go back around, get the form and get back in line...ugh.

Then we got outside and couldn't find rhonda or chuck (the fabulous people we are staying with)...then we couldn't get our phones to call out to their phones but jessy could call their son, so we called him and asked him to call his mom and tell her to call us, oy.

Finally rhonda comes to find us at the other international terminal where she has never picked anyone up before...problem was, airtran wasn't listed on any signs so she went with the terminal she normally goes to pick up people in...oy.

THEN the adventure really begins...we headed out with rhonda to meet some of her friends at punta nizuc, except punta nizuc is mostly hidden so we drove around for ages and ages until we finally stumbled upon this tiny sign saying rio nizuc restaurant and viola we parked, walked through some trees and it opened up to this huge point with tables and a bar and lots of palapas...it was a cute place and definitely a fabulous place to have our first mexican drink!

We had salsa and the other people rhonda was meeting had a fish which you get to go back to a nasty cooler and pick it out, whole fish and right in front of you the dude cuts it open with a nasty rusty knife and and uses a piece of wood to hit the handle of the knife to make it cut all the way through the bone and head of the fish...seriously ick!

Then on to sandy villas and a bit of time on the beach...the sand is crazy soft and water crazy blue however it was a little rough, so we only swam a little.

So we went to the pool for a little swim which was followed shortly by a delicious dinner in town at puerto moreles at a chinese pizza place...such a weird and extensive menu but their friend owns it and she came to hang out with us and we got to sample yummy things and thought about eating the pizza named after chuck...hah!

After dinner we walked around puerto moreles and went to their condo they rent on the beach and had a great view of the clear skies from their little rooftop patio place...really lovely and fantastic...I want to go back and take pictures during the day...

Then it was back to the villas and time to crash, yay! Lovely first day in mexico!

DAY 2: More Mexico Adventures

We got up a little early and had some zucaritas which means little sugars aka frosted flakes with tony the tiger and everything...hehehe and then it was off to the cenotes pronounced seh-no-tays...lovely little thing....in fact it wasn't very little.

It had a lush tropical atmosphere around it with birds and lovely trees, it had a zipline that you could ride to the middle and then drop into the water which we declined to do but jessy and I did jump off the cliff platform thingy which was terrifying and fun!

There was a tour group there when we got there and after they left another arrived, but we had a few minutes alone to chill and enjoy the area...rhonda brought floating noodles which were awesome, so we just sat around and watched others go on the zip line...

Lovely area, really beautiful, a cenote is a sinkhole filled with fresh water and connected to others through underground canals...mega cool!

After that we had lunch in puerto morelos overlooking the ocean, it was delicious and sooooooo beautiful!

Then of course it was time for a swim in the pool followed by showers as the a/c man worked on the a/c in our villa bc it wasn't working the night before and we slept in another villa :)

After showers it was off to playa del carmen...chuck and rhonda stayed at playa del secreto, but they gave us a mexican phone and called roosevelt, a cab driver, to take us...

Roosevelt was soooo nice and we all had a good time even through broken english and spanish...hilar!

The afternoon was mega hot but playa del carmen had some lovely shops so we bought a few things and had a lovely time before dinner at ronaldi's where I had fish kabobs which were deeeeelish and jessy had these shrimps is some delicious sauce...scrumptious!

Additionally, they kept calling us charlie’s angels as they were calling to us to come visit their shops…hilarious really! We got a kick out of the nickname especially since they also called kasey chicken legs…and they meant it in a nice way…something was definitely lost in the translation though! Hah!

Then it was off to see the fire dancers at the blue parrot...they were amazing and crazy all at the same time...and it was fun until one of them threw his fire baton thingy on accident and it appparently hit someone in the crowd, crazy!

I have the throwing part on camera but not who it hit...madness, and he just picked it back up and started twirling it around again!

After we got back to playa del secreto, jessy and I went to look for sea turtles and kasey went to sleep...we saw 4 newly marked nests, but no sea turtles so we'll have to go back another night.

Then it was time for bed, where rhonda had already set up everything for us and we just crawled in and went to sleep...soooo nice.

DAY 3 & 4: Buenos Noches!

The time here seems to be fleeting, but it is fabulouso!

After our busy day on Friday we took Saturday to be completely lazy...originally it was going to be a day at the beach, but the weather didn't really cooperate with that, so we played cards and had margaritas under the palapa with rhonda while chuck had a siesta...hah!

Of course I had already had a morning siesta as I laid around in the hammock chair whilst rhonda prepared breakfast of some fab eggs with tomatoes, peppers and onion with toast and blackberry jam and grapefruit and mango juice...delicious!

We also filled Rhonda and chuck in on our playa del Carmen adventure and the charlie’s angels bit, which we kept up with chuck for the rest of the trip…hilar!

Basically the entire day was relaxing and delightful we did go out to the beach in the late afternoon and laid about before coming in to get ready for dinner at a lovely meixcan restaurant in town...dinner was scrumptious and then we headed over to the gringo bar to listen to a mexican band...so fun!

It was basically on the street and the minute we walk in with chuck and rhonda the next song is sweet home alabama, hah!

We stayed for most of their set which was nice bc it was kinda cool and they were a good band, we even had some people from texas who at staying at sandys villas come to meet us at the bar, so that was nice...

After that it was a fruitless walk on the beach to find sea turtles...we didn't see a single one or any tracks sadly...but there's always tomorrow, yay!

Ok, so that was yesterday and today is tomorrow and we’ve had a fab day again! Morning bagels with chuck and rhonda then to drop chuck for a round of golf while we went to puerto morelos to go snorkeling on the reef.

Geeeeeeeez snorkeling was beautiful! Soooo many fish and such beautiful coral...it was super shallow so if we stood up it would be shoulder deep and waist deep in some places, so shallow that I was often afraid I would accidentally touch the coral. I really think there was more fish around than in australia at the great barrier reef...still beautiful!

I took the underwater camera and let Pas, our guide, take photos, bc he would dive down to get really close, I'm excited to see what photos he took for us!

After snorkeling we walked over to chuck and rhondas beachside apartment and met up with rhonda to relax on the beach and go for a swim...delightful really!

then it was hammock time and dinner time...seriously, I love playa del secreto and puerto morelos...yay!

DAY 5: Buenos Dias!

Ohhhh it is so hot here!

Last night we sat around playing cards after rhonda made us a lovely dinner of gaucamole, mango salsa, chimichangas and chips!

Sooooooo good...then for dessert it was mango daquiris, seriously rhonda is spoiling us with her delicious meals! And drinks!

We stayed up entirely too late and didn't even go look for sea turtles, tortugas in spanish :) we also enlightened Rhonda to the humor of the charlie’s angels comment b/c it took a day for it to click that chuck’s nickname could be Charlie instead of chuck and that was why we kept saying good morning Charlie and he would say good morning angels…or whatever…it was hilarious! We ALL got a kick out of it!

At any rate, it is SO sad that we only have 1 more full day in mexico, it has been just amazingly beautiful and adventurous, loving it!

We spent the morning today waiting an hour for the bus...we booked seats to tulum ruins on an 847am bus and got up early so chuck could take us to the bus station and then we waited til 950 for the freaking bus...dude sooooooo hot and sooooooo uncool!

The bus ride was pretty good and uneventful, but the ruins were gorgeous! Of course, the moment we got in there we were eaten alive by mosquitos as we searched for bug spray...I have sooooo many mozzie bites it is ridiculous!

The ruins were awesome but we did a mad dash through them bc it was so hot then it was a dash to the ocean to cool off and take more photos bc the ruins overlooked the ocean they were extra super scenic!

After that it was some lunch and then a walk thru some shops and a little fun haggling :) jessy and I make a good team with that :)

Then it was off to wait on the bus which thankfully was only 20 mins late this time...so off we went back towards puerto morales...of course nothing is ever easy so when we are close we try to call chuck and rhonda to tell them we're almost back and need a ride from the bus station but alas, the mexican phone they give us will not work sooooooo I grab my phone and don't really expect it to work and then chuck answers and I say hi and tell him it is lenor and he is surprised, we had a good laugh lol but come to find out they were worried they hadn't heard from us and rhonda's call to us wouldn't work so chuck came to wait on us at the bus station, I love them!

After we got back to the villas, we hung out with everyone while chuck grilled lobster and then we had a lovely feast! Amazing cooks!

After dinner it was turtle time, so kasey, jessy and I head out to the beach and take rhonda's phone so if we see one we can call them...well after we walk awhile, take some silly photos and start walking back, kasey TOTALLY sees a turtle! And that was it, we did a lot of silent jumping and then called rhonda so she and valerie (a lady from new hampshire that also lives down here) come down to the beach and we sit and watch.

We named her margaret, but maggie may for short after the rod stewart song we sang in her honor :) she was huge and soooooo slow and it was super cool to watch, seems so unnatural but yet it is so natural...and we totally saw a turtle, like maybe only 3 feet from her, too cool! ANNNNNND just over her was a shooting star!

Kasey, jessy, me and Rhonda were all sitting on the sand watching Maggie do her thing and kick around some sand and then all of the sudden, we gasped, I hit Rhonda, kasey hit me and we got really excited b/c there in the sky was a shooting star…jessy sadly missed it b/c she was looking at photos on her camera, but DUDE it was soooooo cool!

Oh it was a happy night and tomorrow we're going to see the sunrise, yayzers!

DAY 6 & 7: Let the Sun Rise…

Jessy and I got up super early to go check out the sunrise and it was TOTALLY worth it…soooooooooooo gorgeous! The alarm went off about 610am and kasey just rolled over with the pillow on her head (our cue that she’s not going to go see the sunrise) but jessy and I were up and armed with cameras…sadly we should have had bug spray too, b/c the mosquitoes were out…ugh.

We made it out to the beach just before sunrise and started snapping photos! It was GORGEOUS! I took TONS of photos b/c I just couldn’t stop myself, even though I was being eaten by mozzies…

There were some low patchy clouds out on the horizons, so not only did we see the beautiful orange-y red sun rise out of the ocean we also got great views of it peeking through the clouds as it climbed higher and higher…seriously, AWESOME!

After that, jessy and I “took a nap” and woke up a few hours later to relocate our lazy party to the beach!

It was a GORGEOUS day! Which we spent laying out and swimming in the BEAUTIFUL water! Rhonda came out with scruffy and Kirby to play with us on the beach so we all went for a swim as scruffy and Kirby watched from the shade of the palapa…then it was lunch time, so Rhonda whipped up some lovely sandwiches and snacks…she and chuck are amazing hosts! I love them!

After lunch it was siesta time on the beach…but we were armed with books, towels, sunscreen and a surfboard…yes, surfboard.

We took the surfboard to give it a try…which was hilarious and so hard!

We had a great time…I got to my knees and jessy rode several waves on her stomach and we got great pictures that look as if we weren’t complete idiots out there. Of course, my arms are not freakishly long like jessy and kasey’s so I couldn’t hold the surfboard up against my side b/c I couldn’t reach the edge…so it basically slid down my body and was hilarious for all to see…oooooh it was funny!

After surfing it was sitting time again as we watched the day creep along on our last day at the beach…

Then we retreated to the villas to shower and get ready for dinner at david lau’s in Puerto morales to eat “chuck’s pizza” which was DELICIOUS! Also, jessy and I had a margarita made by Valerie and whew, it was strong! Then it was time to do a little last minute gift shopping and then home to have our coco loco drinks from the freshly cut out of the tree coconuts that chuck and Rhonda had whipped up for us and a swim in the pool :o)

THEN it was time to try some tequila from tequila, mexico…which is apparently sipping tequila, oy…craziness and kinda good.

And then it was a lot of card playing with Rhonda until kasey was sleepy so she retired to bed…Rhonda, jessy and I sat around talking for a few more minutes and then jessy and I went for a walk on the beach…twas a beautiful night!!! Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd sadly we didn’t see any turtles, but we did see a HUGE hole and some tracks where a turtle had come and gone…so we wished those turtle eggs a good life and headed back to the villa…weeeeeeeeeeeee!

When we woke up the next morning our time at sandy’s villas had come to an end and sadly we were packing up and heading out…we had a lovely morning just relaxing and packing and sharing photos with Rhonda and looking at her photos before chuck took us to the airport…Rhonda had to wait on some people to come to the villas and chuck was headed to Costco after the airport so we were off on our journey home and they were off to do some errands and work around the villas…I’m totally going to miss those guys! Must. Return. Soon.

The journey home was much more painful than the journey there b/c customs was a line nightmare…but other than that…things were good and I got to meet jessy and kasey’s mom and my family and their family all had dinner together before we left for marlee’s and to pass out fun giftees :o)

I love adventures…and I love new places, but playa del secreto and visiting chuck and Rhonda is going to have to become a regular occurrence in my adventuring!

i'm a runner...i'm a camper... [May. 20th, 2009|08:28 pm]
[my location... |couch...]

so many new endeavors!

the running hasn't been as frequent as i like, but i'm sticking with it...my goal is to run at least 3 days a week...sometimes i do more and sometimes i do less...i'd prefer to do more...i enjoy it...of course, when it's mega hot in the summer, i don't think i'll enjoy it as much.

also, i went camping with liz and taylor this past weekend and it was joyous...those girls are nuts and it was comical, relaxing, wet and fun!

it rained lots, but we stayed dry in the tent...which liz put together all by herself...kudos! of course, then she went to sit in a stranger's car b/c she wanted to "flag" us down at the entrance to the park and it was a complete thunderstorm, so some sweet lady stopped and let her in the car to try and stay dry...even though she was already completely soaked...maybe it was more a protection from the lightning which was outta control...either way, it was a comical start to the weekend...

we hiked a bit...or more like walked in the woods and then sat around and played games as we struggled to get our little twigs to burn and catch our logs on fire...which finally happened just before the bottom fell out in another thunderstorm saturday night...seriously, it was ridiculous...we engulfed our dinner, which we made over an open flame, and taylor hurried made a s'more and away we ran to pack things in the car and take shelter in the tent...comical really.

overall, FANTASTIC weekend...we're already planning the next camping excursion...

and i'm plotting a trip to some big city this summer and perhaps an international vacation...anyone want to go with me?

super saturday shenanigans... [May. 9th, 2009|11:16 pm]
[my location... |my bed...goodnight!]

oh...today started super early as i headed out at 8am for the race without limits benefitting UCP...i did the fun run...it was fun. it was also fun to hang out with everyone and cheer on my friends that ran the 8k...i'm so impressed! it also made me miss running, so i have to get back into it...

i took a week off after i got up from sitting on the floor at lunch on a tuesday and my knee felt swollen and popped a lot and hurt a lot and i couldn't straighten it and i couldn't bend it all the way without a lot of pain, so i didn't run for a week and then somehow an additional week has passed me by...this week, i'm starting back with it and i guess i'll be icing my knee regularly too...so weird it was.

wow, that was a tangent.

anyway, after the race we headed to IZtoo for some yummy chicken salad...seriously, i love that place...

then my hairs got cut...GLORIOUS! it's got oodles of layers and i love it! even though it's a little shorter than i wanted (of course, it's still incredibly long, so whatevs)...

then it was off to meet my sis at Whats On 2nd...super cute! and super hot! they really need to invest in a/c...we really enjoyed looking at everything...such interesting stuff, i wish i had a house to put some of it in...seriously, everyone needs to go check it out...i loved it! it's a great little gem in downtown birmingham...

after that we had a late lunch/early dinner at the bottletree cafe...i've never been there and its location isn't ideal b/c it seems so out of the way, being like 15 blocks from the normal areas of downtown, but it had a great atmosphere and the little bartender man was super nice and friendly...it felt like a place that locals go...and even though i'm a local it was something new to me, so i loved it!

then it was off to melissa's to head to a friend's house for a cookout...i thoroughly enjoyed my time hanging out with melissa and some of her favorite people...it was a great group of people and very welcoming...and the food was fantastic...seriously, great evening...

such a busy, but exceptionally fulfilling and fun saturday...now it's off to sleep to get ready for mother's day tomorrow...yay!

happy mom's day to all you mother types! hope you get a little something pretty!

oops, it's been a while... [May. 6th, 2009|09:44 pm]
[my musics... |the hills.]

i did really good for a while there...but not so much lately...oops.

i'm watching american idol...all i have to say is, wow, paula...

i'm back at the condo after being out for a week and a few days b/c we didn't have a hot water heater...i really enjoyed my time at my parent's and spending time with the puppies...

i also thoroughly enjoyed watching the 10 o'clock news with my dad...i felt informed and i enjoyed spending time with him...

i also got my windshield fixed from the massive cracks littering it from a foul baseball...yay! ozzie is much happier now and so am i...if you know anything about me and my car, you know that baseball cracked windshield was a lot for me to handle...oy.

went to the beach this past weekend...twas glorious except april totally passed out on me...like, hadn't had enough water, hadn't had enough food, has inner ear problems...sat down on the deck and passed out...i had to yell for buger who was thankfully there to come to mine and april's rescue b/c i was flipping out!

tuesday, i met with my advisor at the university of alabama for the alternative masters program for special education gifted/talented...i'm kind of excited! yay!

also, it's teacher appreciation week and i'm thoroughly enjoying it...i work for an amazing boss and i have some great parents of my kids...so far, it's been lovely little happies each day...

lots of things have happened, whew. i'm sure i left some things out....i'm afraid i'm going to fall back into a rut...and i'd rather not...it's already starting...i wonder if i need a big change...or are these small ones enough?

ok, now i'm going to go catch up on some major television...hoorah!

wicked.

best. musical. ever.

ok, i still REALLY love rent...so maybe it's top 2...i mean seriously, LOVED IT!

we even saw the understudy for elphaba and dude, she was phenomenal! i don't know why she is the understudy...

oh and the story, fabulous! i knew a little about wicked, but not the whole story line and how it would play out and it was magical, entertaining and clever...i. loved. it.

every minute.

that's all.

personal revelations... [Apr. 15th, 2009|08:51 pm]
[my location... |couch...]
[my musics... |bones on tv...i love tv.]

ok, so i know and have always known i enjoy QT, meaing quality time...my friendships are strongest when i can spend a little quality time with friends. and i don't mean long amounts of time, just quality time, those times when you are happy, enjoying someone's company, connecting on many different levels...really, it's the small things...a phone call to say hello, an email, a facebook message, a little "happy" if you will, a good brunch, a good dinner, really, it's the little things...they get me every time and make me remember just how grateful i am for all of my fabulous friends!!!

however, on the other side of it...the little things also drag me down...the times i'm "overlooked", the times i want to just sit and watch tv and hang out, times when i want to be a part of someone's life and i feel shut out, times when it feels like i'm not being heard, times when i feel like i need a friend and i've been dismissed for something else...ok, those seem like big things, but they are really small instances and not huge events...

ok, so all of that to say...that i have always known that the QT fulfills me, the lack of it drags me down but what i've recently discovered is that i can't let go of the small things that bring me down...i can forgive and i can move on but it chisels away at my trust and comes back to me...sometimes i feel like i hold against people, but then sometimes i think i'm just over-reacting...relationships are built on trust and trust encompasses a lot of things so maybe i'm not...

either way, i'm not as tortured as i feel like this post makes me sound, but i am annoyed by these personal revelations...so i'm going to go about working on the "forget" part of "forgive and forget"...please hold me accountable...thanks!

now, as for life events...i spent easter at the beach and it was fabulous...thoroughly relaxing and included a lot of reading and laying...perfect! except we forgot to dye easter eggs...it's ok though, we may do that this weekend! hahahahaha.

busy busy busy and sleepy sleepy sleepy [Apr. 8th, 2009|09:01 pm]

let's bullet...my thoughts are coming in unrelated snippets...enjoy!

  • i short sheeted ashley...it was HILARIOUS, but i had to wait FOREVER for her to find it and even then, she didn't understand what had happened and had i not gone into her room to ask if she was in the bed, she probably would have just taken the sheet completely off the bed...hah!
  • last night my car's windshield got hit by a baseball and it is all kinds of cracked...realllllllllllllllly sad. but mtn brook parks and recreation's insurance will fix it so that's cool...i'm just sad...i've had this car for 2 years and she's had a rough life with many a ding and scratch...
  • today and tomorrow i'm attending a pre-k conference in montgomery, so far it's going well, but duuuuuuuude makes for some LONG days...i got to work at 7 and we didn't get back til 7...oy.
  • tomorrow should be a shorter conference day and then i go see wicked! yayzers!
  • i wish i didn't have to go back to school, but that'd i'd miraculously have a career and be moving forward in my life...it's like i'm treading water.
  • i have the shirt that allison whatever on AI wore tonight...it's close to my favorite shirt...
  • it annoys me a little that they pre-record the group songs...i don't care about intricate footwork...of course, i guess that would be a lot to memorize each week...still annoys me a little, we're watching/listening for the music, not the moves...i digress.
  • lil rounds is younger than me...that seems completely wrong, it's weird.
  • i'm so sleepy, i think i'm going to bed soon...early mornings are ridiculously hard for me.
  • i'm going to the beach for easter...i'm excited! i love the beach and i miss it dearly when i'm not there :o)
that's all! i'm going to watch some telly and then sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep...word!

april fool's! [Apr. 1st, 2009|07:13 pm]
[my location... |couch...of course.]

i didn't play a single april fool's joke...actually, i may go short sheet ashley now...ahhhhh that'd be HILARIOUS for when she gets home...oh she'll be pissed...yep, i'm so going to do it!

i'm glad i decided to type about that, otherwise i never would have thought of such a grand idea...mwhahahahahahaha!

other than that, i ran monday, i didn't run tuesday and i'm not running today...i feel guilty, but i am also feeling VERY lazy this week...

i also finished all of my UA application requirements (i hope) and sent it all off...now i wait, hopefully i'll be accepted and i won't have to be in school forever and i can get a job in a school system and i can have summers and i can go on grand adventures and i can finish grad school and then move to nashville...

yep, that's the plan...at least for now...i really want to move...i want a new town to explore...i wish i had decided to do teaching LONG before now...then i could be further along in my plan and feel like i have something going for me now.

also, i really hate that everyone apparently has a boyfriend or husband...i mean, i love you all dearly, but it makes me wonder if there is someone out there for me and if so, will i find them? b/c i seriously don't know where i'll find them...

argh...those are just a few of my april fool's angers...did you have a good april fool's? did you play any good jokes? share them with me! :o)

spring is here! [Mar. 21st, 2009|11:06 am]
[my location... |couch...duh.]
[my musics... |tv...duh.]

do i have a favorite season?

no.

my favorite time of the year is when the seasons change...seriously, i LOVE it!

yesterday was the first day of spring and it was a beautiful day! additionally, today is a beautiful day and i'm headed to tannehill to celebrate the fabulous weather!

seriously, i'm excited!

i just wish the weekend wasn't so short...it doesn't leave enough time for me to make the most of the beautiful weather.

also, alabama's application deadline is april 1...does that mean my GRE score has to be in by then too? b/c i haven't requested that be sent yet...and that would probably take some time...uh oh...i hope i don't have a problem...

and i sent my transcripts to be evaluated at the end of february and the check still hasn't cleared and i've still got no feedback from them...i'd like to start for the summer semester so i could maybe land a public school job in the fall...there's a lot of maybes and a lot of hopefulness which isn't the best, but i'm optimistic and i need summers...i know, it's shameless, but summers, i love them so.

ok, that's enough randomness...i'm off to get ready to play at tannehill...hoorah!

i'm becoming a runner... [Mar. 19th, 2009|07:54 pm]
[my location... |couch...]
[my musics... |american idol on tv...]

seriously, it's crazy...

each time i go out to run, i think...huh, crazy, i'm becoming a runner...

i say becoming b/c i still struggle to run over 3 minutes solid...pathetic, i know...today was day 3 of week 2...and i was supposed to jog 3 minutes, walk 1 minute, jog 3 minutes, walk 1, jog 3 minutes, walk 1, jog 6 minutes...ooooh 6 minutes...i TOTALLY did it...seriously, i was pumped! exhausted, staring at my watch, but totally rejuvenated and not struggling to finish...proud, that's what i am.

also, i've now found my favorite place to run...and it's jemison park in mountain brook...i just wish the running area were a little a wider...but overall, it's my favorite b/c it is basically flat, and i am sooooo not into any sort of hill, no matter how small...seriously hills wear me out...lol.

anyways, i'm becoming a runner, yay!

i went to the beach last weekend...i didn't get to stay nearly long enough...shameful...and depressing...my family is there now, i want to be there too...sad.

other than those things...i haven't got much else to report....weeeeeeeeee! what are you doing?!?!?!

what a lovely weekend! [Mar. 8th, 2009|08:33 pm]
[my location... |couch]
[my musics... |tv...]

such a fun-tastic weekend!

the weather has been amazing and i have fully enjoyed the whole weekend, even losing an hour of sleep...hah!

friday was lindsey's birthday and we celebrated with mexican and karaoke...hoorah! lindsey even found some 70+ year old man sitting in a booth alone and crashed his booth with all of us...hilarious really!

then saturday i signed up to be a runner...well to commit to running 4 days a week with a small running group or a big group with danny who's doing "running 101" which used to be the "couch to 5K" running program...hoorah! i'm excited!

then i met up with april for some shopping...complete with a pair of running shoes...which was comical b/c when the guy asked what kind of running shoes do you have? i say, none...i don't run...hahahaha. oh i'm funny...at least to myself.

and today...i went to the davis cup! omg! sooo fun! tennis is fabulous! it's such a bizarre spectator sport b/c you spend the whole time swinging your head back and forth watching the ball which is comical if you get to watch the poeple across the court...hahahahaha.

this round of the davis cup was between the usa and switzerland so we watched wawrinka v. andy roddick and roddick won! then we watched james blake v. chiundinella and blake pulled out a victory...it was seriously fantastic! i loved to listen to the fans go wild between the points and then hush up as the players were getting prepared to continue play...loved it!

another funny moment was when chiundinella tried to return a serve and slipped and rolled back onto his back and someone yelled out, "what sport do you think you're playing? soccer?" hilarious! annnnnnnnd one more...the swiss players all around the arena started yelling and getting into the game at one time and then someone yelled out..."stay neutral!" ooooh hilarious!

andy roddick was also pretty hilarious during his interview after the game and james blake was very expressive to watch play...i loved it! and our seats were amazing! we were so close to the court...fantastic! hoorah!

loved it all! now on to the work week, which i hope goes by quickly b/c friday i'm off to the beach for a few! hoorah!

i give up on masterfully written entries, it's all just random... [Mar. 5th, 2009|08:03 pm]
[my musics... |american idol...i'm annoyed with them...]

it's a party in my head...i can jump from one topic to the next in a matter of moments...i come up with good ideas in showers...i compose letters and emails in my head while i'm showering or driving in the car or walking around on the playground at work...none of these times are conducive for writing, but it's what happens.

soooooo, when i sit down to write journal entries, i am never able to come up with things to talk about, therefore i'm unable to create masterpieces of writing so i just don't post.

now, i'm coming to terms with it and i'm just going to let you all in on my randomness...get excited! i'll try to tame it a bit and make it a little less random for you and make coherent sentences...

first of all, i went to the endodontist today thinking i was just going to talk to him about how my x-rays showed something resembling an absess and the potential need for a root canal...and i ended up getting a root canal...and i cried when i met the doctor...why you ask? no idea...anytime i meet a new doctor or go to hospitals i cry...seriously, it's a problem...i told the nurse as we walked back i was probably going to cry and there it was, i was an emotional idiot. good times, not.

the doc was really funny about it though and we all got a good laugh out of it in the end...

of course, i had to have a root canal which blows...but overall i'm feeling pretty good...no major pain, yet. so here's hoping.

next, costco has churros...i've wanted a churro for a LONG time so next time when i go and my mouth isn't numb, i shall purchase.

also, i want these... www.target.com/Mossimo-Pauline-Gladiator-Sandal-Pewter/dp/B001F0LXPA/179-5848301-5737326 but are silver sandals stupid? i need opinions, thanks.

i'm going to buy running shoes this weekend b/c i'm going to start running...start with the couch to 5k plan with melissa...so i now have someone to actually make me do it :o)

well, i guess that's all for now...i'm sure i'll come up with something else later...stay tuned...hahaha

randoms, really. [Mar. 1st, 2009|02:30 pm]
[my location... |by the fire...]
[my musics... |tv...]

we’ve started a “table talk” newsletter to send to parents on Fridays…hilarious! even though melissa and i analyzed it all to death we finally “published” the first one.

of course, then it made me miss all of my fun creations in pr…seriously what should I do with my life?

i sent off my transcript evaluations to alabama yesterday. we’ll see how long i’ll need to be in school, racking up more debt and more random degrees…such fun, not.

also, i really need internet at home b/c our “provider” has disappeared and i’m rather dependent on internet…i miss it.

i got the G1 about two weeks ago…i love it! seriously a fantastic phone! woohoooooo!!!

i wish i could travel and take photos for a living…that’d definitely be my dream job…anyone want to hire me for that?

i want to own a townhouse. i need a different job in order to do that. also, i need to decide if i want to put down “roots” in birmingham and if so, the cutest townhouses are in non-ideal school districts (basically, for re-sale purposes b/c i’m definitely not having kids any time soon).

how does twitter work? i’m slightly confused and i don’t have internet to go and research it…grr…

also, i’m going to mexico in july…i’m so excited!

oh and it SNOWED today! sooooooo exciting! taylor sent me a text at 850 this morning and i jumped out of bed...soooo mcuh snow! and i was alone at the condo, so i rushed to my parents house b/c i wanted someone to play in the snow with me! and i made them go out...so we threw snowballs, ate snow ice cream, made a snowlady, made a snow angel...watched the kids on the street play...all such fun things!

gee, i really love snow! i wish it would last, but it's already melting away...come back soon snow!

alone in a crowded room. [Feb. 2nd, 2009|10:12 pm]
[my location... |my bed.]
[my musics... |e! news...]

it's weird in my head lately.

i think i'm trying to put on my big girl panties and i'm struggling a little bit.

i think i know what i need to do for myself, but i don't know if my heart is willing to make the jump.

also, i've really enjoyed reading everyone's 25 things on facebook...it's funny b/c i find similarities between me and others while reading them...and none of the things are important, per se, but they're interesting, little trivia tidbits that i find interesting in myself and find that other have them too...

ok, i don't think that made sense.

i've had trouble articulating my thoughts lately...of course, that's nothing new, but i've had a lot of issues lately. lol.

well, looks like i'm going with a MA in Gifted Education...who cares if there's less of a need for gifted teachers...I think it's what I want to do. Now, I'm looking at schools and leaning towards the University of Alabama b/c they have a distance program and I can take many an online class...but, still, that doesn't fulfill my desire to move.

can someone else make this decision for me?

i don't know if TFA will do a MA for gifted b/c it's not a "high" need area, but it is still totally appealing in that i could move somewhere else and have a job...

crap.

i haven't decided a thing. oh well, i tried. perhaps clarity will come another day.

tiffany...did you have fun at the superbowl? i thought about you when the steelers almost lost it...but it's ok homeboy made an amazing catch to win it! i was going to be pissed if they held on til the very end and lost it over one stupid play...but they didn't...yay.

ok, that was sufficiently random. and to add a little more random...i'm going to try to become a runner...not to run marathons, but to become fit. my training plan starts wednesday...

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! ciao!

procrastination. [Jan. 17th, 2009|08:54 pm]
[my location... |couch]
[my musics... |moive.]

it's the name of the game.

i procrastinate with a first of the year post b/c i don't feel like i'm where i want to be.

i procrastinate with the first of the year post b/c it's been so long since i last posted, does it matter if i do it "tomorrow" anyways?

i procrastinate with lots of things b/c i convince myself i'll do it "tomorrow" and tomorrow turns into next week and next week turns into next month...you get the cycle...it's a bad one.

in 2009, i'm going to break it.

hold me accountable.

i want to enroll in grad school for a masters in special education gifted...

i'm still toying with the idea of teach for america or looking at schools in nashville so i can move there and start my education.

what do you think?

i'm over birmingham. i have been for a while, but a lot of things happened this year and i don't know if i could move very far away from my parents...

my job is also lovely b/c of the fabulou people i work with, but i'm not satisfied with my position.

my personal life is ridiculously bland and i feel like i've lost some friends this year. and a lot of things have changed.

sometimes, i feel like i've lost my place in birmingham, but then i wonder if i'm just meant to be creating another "place" somewhere else...

it's funny...i always said i'd never be a teacher...and apparently i'm about to become one...i also said i didn't want to live in birmingham and apparently i am.

2008 was a year of confusion...i'm hoping 2009 brings clarity.

so, here's to 2009, shall it be a grand year! with hopefully a little less procrastination!

uhhhhhh... [Nov. 16th, 2008|10:01 pm]
[my location... |my bed.]
[my mood... |annoyedannoyed]
[my musics... |tv]

i need a change.

i'm not sure what that's going to be, but i feel stuck and i'm not accustomed to being stuck and not being able to change it slightly.

i know, that's a little cryptic, but i'm sorting it out in my head...i just thought i'd let you all know i need a change.

also, i'm obsessed with janet evanovich books...i read book 10 in about a day...now i'm on to book 11, thanks amy for introducing me to janet...she writes mysteries of sorts with lots of humor as it follows a really bad bounty hunter around, stephanie plum...sounds stupid, but it's actually a little action packed with lots of humor...

that's what i'm going to go do now...i should maybe put away some sweaters i got from my parents house today or maybe i should clean up my floor, but neither of those things sound appealing, so i'll refrain. thanks!

ok, happy last few hours of the weekend! i'm going to soak it up with some reading and some sleeping...thrilling really!
